IN CASE OF A SCHOOL EMERGENCY Although your first reaction would be to call or rush to school, please follow the steps listed below: 1. Check current status Go to the OPE (http://www.eusd.net/olivenhain-pioneer/) and EUSD (http://www.eusd.net/ ) websites for current information. 2. Have your phone ready You WILL receive official communication from school or public safety officials. Blackboard Parent Link “all call system” will be used for frequent and up to date information as it becomes available. Please make sure OPE has your current cellular phone number. 3. Check news alerts Tune in to local TV/radio stations for official school news alerts. We will be in communication with news channels. Listen for official information regarding reunification with your child. 4. Have your identification with you Students will be released ONLY to parents/guardians who are documented as emergency contacts and who present a picture ID such as a driver’s license. DO NOT call or rush to school. Phone lines and staff are needed for emergency response efforts. DO NOT phone your child. Staff and students are discouraged from using cell phone communication for safety reasons. School policy requires students to keep their phones turned off and in their backpacks, so trying to contact them could increase worry. |
